This pup is created by sculptor Steve Massam and  cold-cast in bronze (resin). Cold-cast bronze is a mixture of resin into which a high percentage of bronze metal filler is added. Having an appearance of a true bronze but does not share the same strength. The Falkland Islands have a number of small breeding populations of elephant seals. Both male and females come ashore in October to have their pups and mate. Pups are nurses for about three weeks after which the females return to the sea.
